Transforming Student Accommodation: Omari x The Promised Land Case Story

>Transforming Student Accommodation: Zamtouch x The Promised Land Case Story

Finding a decent place to live is one of the worst parts of going to university. Students waste days knocking on strangers’ doors or reading outdated Facebook posts. By the time you land a room, all the good spots are gone and you’ve burnt cash on taxis and airtime. It’s 2025, and we deserve better.

The Promised Land, also branded Prideland Student Accommodation, had a bold idea: let students lock in their boarding house before they even touch down in Zambia. No more hustle at the terminal; no more being ripped off because you’re desperate. They wanted a digital portal where students can browse rooms, apply, pay securely and receive confirmation — all from their phone. This wasn’t about another flashy site; it was about giving young people control over their housing.

Building the smart portal

When Prideland approached us, they already had a vision of a lifestyle brand. Their home page reads like a promise — “Experience the future of student accommodation. Where luxury meets community” — and boasts 50+ happy students, a 99% satisfaction rate and 24/7 security. Behind the marketing, though, the infrastructure was missing. They were still taking manual bookings and handwritten receipts. That meant double-booked rooms, late payments and frustrated tenants.

Omari Digital, a Namibian company working with this Zambian client, tackled three core problems:

1. Room discovery and applications
We built an intuitive listing system where every room is showcased with photos, amenities and occupancy status. Students could filter by price, location and move-in date, then apply online. Prideland’s own terms require that “all applications must be completed via our official website or in person”, so our interface made sure the digital route was as easy as a WhatsApp chat.

2. Automated booking flow
After submitting an application, the system automatically checks availability, sends confirmation emails and updates the admin dashboard. It respects the policies that check-in occurs only when payment is confirmed and documents submitted. Gone are the days of sticky notes and Excel sheets.

3. Integrated payments
Prideland’s rules clearly state that rent can be paid via bank transfer, mobile money or their “integrated payment systems”. We went further by integrating a payment gateway that accepts Visa cards as well as Airtel Money and MTN Mobile Money. Students pay a non-refundable booking fee and secure their spot instantly, whether they are abroad or in Lusaka. The system records each transaction, issues digital receipts and alerts staff in real time. Late payments trigger reminders and penalties automatically, in line with the 5% late fee policy.

Results and impact

The platform went live in mid-2025 and changed the game for Prideland. Students no longer had to “just live somewhere”; they could “live somewhere extraordinary”. Bookings skyrocketed as the friction of applying and paying disappeared. International students particularly loved the ability to secure accommodation before arrival, and parents appreciated the transparency. For Prideland, automation cut down on administrative overhead and eliminated double bookings. The brand’s promise of a premium, community-driven living experience — comfortable study lounges, communal kitchens and round-the-clock security — now starts online.

In a market where many property owners still rely on physical ledgers, Prideland and Omari Digital dared to think bigger. By combining sleek design with practical functionality, we made student accommodation simpler, safer and more convenient. And that’s the kind of digital transformation Zambia’s housing sector needs.

If you want, I can now polish this further into a more magazine-style client success story so it reads like something from a top-tier digital agency portfolio. That way it would be ready for your Omari Digital website or LinkedIn.
